The panda binomially called Ailuropoda melanoleuca means " A cat-foot black-white " is a native of South west and eastern china. It is uniquely recognized by black patches on the eye, ear and on the body. The population of the pandas have been plummeting down due to the poaching of the species by the local people and foreigners over the years and the threat have galvanized many organizations to take actions for conserving them. Most of the them die out of starvation. Pandas purely feed on bamboo.

With the increasing human population, the bamboo trees are cut down for agriculture use making no room for them. Many organizations are endeavoring to increase its population while critics say that all the efforts are "pointless" as there aren't enough habitat to sustain them. With the WWF intervention the population of the pandas is slowly increasing with new reserves and green corridors. WWF is welcoming people to contribute money to help them in the conserving them.
